Art direction, archive research and a poster system for the 40th anniversary of !K7.
!K7 turned 40 in 2025. The label was born in a divided Berlin: before the techno mixes and DJ-Kicks, it was one person and a video camera, founder Horst Weidenmüller filming punk and post-punk shows across the city, from Nick Cave to Einstürzende Neubauten, then selling the tapes to local cafés.
The campaign goes back to that. In the archive we found the raw material of those first years: old faxes, early logos, the rough texture of West Berlin in the 80s. From it grew a loud, high-contrast poster language, real and unpolished, running across event posters, announcements and more.
At 40, the label looks forward by returning to where it started: the rough end of Berlin.
