It’s a Book 2015

In 2015, I managed a multifaceted project for the Independent Publishers Fair, which encompassed the design of posters, exhibition layouts, and the coordination of a symposium titled “it’s a Book, it’s a Crowd, it’s an open Cloud”.

The symposium addressed critical questions surrounding the publishing industry's transformation in the digital age:

  • How is the book of the future evolving in response to digital trends?
  • What are the implications of e-publishing on the content and form of printed books?
  • How are the advantages and disadvantages of digital reading shaping the industry?
  • In the era of self-publishing, how is the traditional publishing landscape transforming?
  • What financing models can sustain the production of printed books?
  • Is the role of book designers evolving to replace traditional authors as central figures?
  • How should education adapt to these changing dynamics?

Distinguished speakers, including Barbara Steiner, Helge Malchow, Roland Früh, and Markus Dreßen, lent their expertise to these discussions. The design elements of the project, including the posters, were thoughtfully aligned with the symposium's focus, creating a cohesive and engaging experience for attendees.
