!K7 at 40 and DJ-Kicks at 30 campaign design, on-site motion design and merch for berlins biggest indendent label.
In the beginning, !K7 was Horst Weidenmüller filming punk and post-punk shows across a divided Berlin. Raw footage, copied tapes, dirty bars; the noise of a city still finding its form.
Forty years later, the archive still carried that charge. The campaign was built from its own remains: old faxes, early logos, Studio !K7 letterheads from Kaiserdamm 7, xeroxed fragments and traces of a pre-digital label culture. These pieces became the starting point for a visual language that felt less like a retrospective and more like something found, copied, torn and played back.

Across posters, event graphics, motion assets and merchandise, the anniversary moved between punk residue and club culture.

The archive gave up a DJ-Kicks-Quartett, a deck of cards turning DJs into a card game. We brought it back for the anniversary, carried through to the London show.

At Silent Green in Berlin, Modeselektor released their DJ-Kicks record with a panel, merch, records on sale and a listening party. It was a small live setting for a series that has always sat somewhere between club night, catalogue and cultural document.
While the 40th anniversary drew from the rough beginnings of !K7, the DJ-Kicks layer came from the series itself: every mix, from CJ Bolland in 1995 to today, set as one continuous discography for the on-site backdrop animation and a DJ-Kicks Shirt.
